SERVICE OFFERED |
 |
OTHER TEACHERS & COMPANIES |
|
Specialization in music instruction |
We
specialize in excellent music instruction |
Some offer a variety of things, specializing in nothing
- quality is not guaranteed |
|
Suzuki & traditional methods |
Our teachers receive training in both, and we will help
you decide which is best for the student in your family. |
Most offer one or the other, and attempt to sell you on
the one that they offer being the best choice, even if
it is not. |
|
Teachers with degrees in music/education |

Our teachers have degrees in music or education, and
have previous teaching experience. |
Some do, some don't - most companies hire anyone who
performs on that instrument or says they can teach. |
|
Background AND credit checks, reference checks and
training performed on each and every employee |

Definitely!! We call 5-8 references, and complete both
background checks and credit checks. All new employees
complete several hours of orientation, as well as
instrument pedagogy training. |
We have been unable to find any other company that does
all of this. Others may do background checks only and no
credit check or training, and most do not provide
comprehensive training. |
|
Customer teacher matching |

We will help you find the right teacher. And, if it
doesn't work (which rarely happens), we'll fix it! |
Elsewhere, you may have to search yourself or be stuck
with a teacher to whom you were assigned randomly. |
|
In home or in studio lessons available |

In Columbus & Delaware, Ohio, you have both options with
both options coming to other areas soon. |
Most companies or individual teachers are one or the
other rather than putting the decision power in your
hands. |
|
Centralized, proven curriculum with many options for
fun, supplemental materials |

Our owners and managers have decades of experience and
have hand-selected the appropriate materials that are
PROVEN to work. Students have options for supplemental,
fun materials to keep them motivated, interested and
excited with their lessons! |
New teachers use students as experimental subjects to
choose appropriate methods by seeing what doesn't work. Some may not have the experience and
knowledge necessary to make the right selections. Others
may not have access to the many supplemental options to
make lessons fun and enjoyable. |
|
Recitals, performance classes, MTNA, Piano Guild, Royal
Conservatory and other performance options |

We hold recitals 1-2 times annually. All of our teachers
are required to be MTNA members so that we can offer the
various options to our students and the pedagogical
training to our employees. Piano Guild and the Royal
Conservatory Exams are optional for all students. We
have other performances and performance classes
available throughout the year at state-of-the-art
venues. |
Some teachers do not hold recitals at all. Others have
them only once a year and do not offer anything else.
Sometimes they are not at very nice venues. As far as we
know, we are the only company at which all teachers are
MTNA members. Most teachers do not offer the Royal
Conservatory Exams, and only some offer the Piano Guild. |
|
Teacher employment contracts |
Our
teachers are under 1-year contracts, and they are W2
employees. |
Most teachers can leave companies or quit with little or
no notice, and are sub-contractors. With an individual,
if he or she stops teaching you have to start the search
all over again. |
|
Flexible scheduling initially, and rescheduling options |

When you register, we take YOUR availability and use
that, along with the custom teacher matching, to find
your teacher, day and time. In addition, we offer
rescheduling options so that you do not lose lessons you
have paid for but could not attend. |
With an individual, the days and times he or she has
available is what you have to select from. Most
companies try to place you where it is convenient for
them. Many teachers and companies do not provide any
rescheduling options. |
|
No waiting lists |

Usually, we can start your lessons within a few days
unless your availability is incredibly specific or you
have unordinary needs. |
Many individual teachers have long waiting lists because
they are so limited. With some companies, you may wait
4-6 weeks to begin your lessons! |
|
No long-term commitments or contracts |

Pay just a month in advance, and stop your lessons any
time with just 30 days notice. |
Some teachers and schools require you to pay for a
quarter, semester or school year in advance,
non-refundable. |
|
Accept varying forms of payment |

We accept check, cash, money order, cashiers check, Visa
or MasterCard. |
Most teachers and companies just accept check, cash or
money order without the option to pay with a credit
card. |
|
Rental programs |

Through our partners, we can refer you to appropriate
rental programs. |
Most teachers expect you to figure this out for
yourself. |
|
Adults and seniors welcome |

Yes! We provide excellent music instruction for students
of ANY age. |
Many teachers will not teach someone older than the age
of 18, or will not be patient and flexible enough to
work with the learning styles and schedule of an adult
student. |
|
Exploration classes, summer camps, and other classes |
In
Columbus/Delaware, Ohio, our corporate headquarters, we
provide: The Kids Off Broadway Workshop, Piano
Exploration Class, Guitar Exploration Class, Violin
Exploration Class, Performance Class, Suzuki Group Class
and Summer Camps. We are working to bring these classes
to other locations, too. |
Most companies and teachers just offer a private lesson
without options for other fun classes and group
activities. |
