FALL SESSION BEGINS THE WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 8

CLASS DESCRIPTION: Guitar Exploration Class is for children ages 5-7yo and 8-10yo (classes are divided by age). The class is 7 weeks total, 1 hour each week. Children have their first 6 guitar lessons in a group atmosphere with other children their age. Week 7 is a mini-recital at which family and friends are welcome. Concepts usually taught in the first 6 lessons are covered, with the children focusing on the Suzuki method in the younger age group, and traditional note reading in the older age group. Students have FUN while they play games, sing songs, play the guitar, learn rhythms, use other instruments, play in small ensembles and work in pairs, and discover the basics of playing the violin! This FUN class is a wonderful introduction to the guitar!

INSTRUMENT: An acoustic guitar is needed for the classes; however, practicing in between is not required. You may purchase a guitar at Music-Go-Round on Bethel Road by referencing Prestige Music Studios/Molly Young, and the guitar will cost approximately $60 (price subject to change per the store). We do require that the guitar be the appropriate size for the child (the store will help you with this) and has new strings (nylon strings are usually best for young fingers - brass strings can cut finger tips). If you have a family hand-me-down that you would like to use instead, it must be the right size and have new strings. Be sure you have a case for transportation!

SCHEDULE: The start date of the next session is listed above. When you register, we use your availability to coordinate a class with others who are available at similar times to you. There are not pre-determined class times. Your scheduled day/time would be the same for 7 weeks. Classes are 60-minutes each. We will notify families by the Friday before the week the classes start with the days and times of the classes. Should we be unable to find a day/time that fits within the availability you provided, we will reimburse you for the class.

We tentatively have classes scheduled for Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 5-6pm. If you can do one of these, be sure to include that in your availability. Thank you!

PARENT NIGHT: The 7th week is Parent Night! We have a "mini-recital" for the child's family during the regular class time. Parents, siblings, grandparents, neighbors, and anyone else are welcome!

CLASS SIZE: Ages 5-7 - min. 2/max. 10; Ages 8-10 - min. 2/max. 12

COST: 1, 60-minute class per week for 7 weeks (7th week is Parent Night) = $99 total
